Lawsuit Threatened Against LI Rep. Peter King For Blocking Own Constituents On Facebook
A Facebook feud between U.S. Congressman Peter King of Long Island and the ACLU is heating up, with the organization threatening to sue for allegedly blocking constituents on Facebook. The Republican congressman has reportedly blocked dozens of people from his official Facebook page, according to the New York Civil Liberties Union, which has argued that the bans infringe on posters’ First Amendment rights. In response, attorneys for the New York affiliate of the ACLU are preparing a lawsuit that they plan to move forward with if the posters are not unblocked. “Like ejecting them from that…

Cuomo Slams Trump For 'His Assault On Abortion Rights'
After seeing his state’s abortion laws singled out during Tuesday’s State of the Union address, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo hit back at President Donald Trump, chastising him in a New York Times op-ed. "Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments from birth," Trump said, referencing the Reproductive Health Act, which was signed into law last month. "These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world.” The president also called on …

Texting Their Patience: New Yorkers Sue Trump, FEMA Over Presidential Alert No Opt Out
A lawsuit has been filed in New York following Wednesday’s test of FEMA’s new “presidential alert” notification system. On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the initial test of FEMA’s new system went off for most Americans at around 2:15 p.m. The message was sent to cell phones similar to AMBER alerts and inclement weather warnings that are currently in place. However, not everyone was pleased about the alert, and three New York plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in Manhattan against President Donald Trump and FEMA officials. They are claiming that the alert system is a “violation of Americans' First and Fo…

Cuomo Campaign Is Trying To Get This Molinaro TV Ad Pulled, Report Says
Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s re-election campaign has filed a cease-and-desist letter to television stations trying to have his Republican challenger's new ad pulled from the air, claiming it is “false, misleading and defamatory” because the news article cited does not say that Cuomo himself is being probed as part of the Crystal Run investigation. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, Cuomo's GOP opponent, unveiled the TV ad this past weekend slamming Cuomo of New Castle about corruption convictions involving some top state aides and advisers. “It is false, cheap and nasty,” Cuomo campaign spoke…

Cuomo Goes National In Battle Against NRA
The National Rifle Association, the nation's top pro-gun lobby and one of its most powerful interest groups, said regulatory efforts by Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle could make it “unable to exist as a not-for-profit or pursue its advocacy mission." Cuomo, on Twitter, responded: "If I could have put the @NRA out of business, I would have done it 20 years ago. I'll see you in court." In a July 20 amended complaint, first reported by the New York Law Journal, the NRA accused Cuomo, as well as state Department of Financial Services Superintendent Maria Vullo, of issuing a “ser…

Former Mount Vernon Nutritionist Sues City, Mayor Following Firing
A former member of the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation is suing Mayor Richard Thomas, the city and Darren Morton, the Commissioner of his former department, alleging that he was fired for attending for attending a meeting regarding Memorial Field with former Mayor Ernest Davis. In a lawsuit filed this week, Larry McDowdell, a former nutritionist, claims that he attended a meeting with Thomas and Morton regarding the possibility of a new roof at the Memorial Field tennis center, and the mayor subsequently sent an email to City Council stating that “he was surprised to see Mayor Davis in…
